Using a strengths based approach that assumes that wellness is within each of us and needs guidance to be fully realized, my style is collaborative and client centered. I teach skills and techniques to help improve daily life while also helping you explore and address the root causes of suffering and unhappiness so that healing can take place. I draw on a wide range of treatment modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Self Psychology, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), motivational counseling and mindfulness. No two people are alike and therapy is tailored to address your particular needs, strengths and desires at the time you enter treatment.
I have over 15 years experience helping clients address and heal from chemical dependency, grief and loss, relationship issues, work/life balance issues, trauma, depression and phobias. I offer brief, solution focused treatment in addition to more traditional depth-oriented treatment and somatically oriented treatment.
I use both EMDR and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy in working with clients who have experienced trauma, anxiety, phobias or are struggling with entrenched negative belief systems. Both these methods have proven effective in helping decrease or eliminate the symptoms that can result from traumatic experiences, allowing individuals to lead happier lives.
